The internal speaker isnt going in my recent speaknspell, im wondering if i can replace it and upsize a little.
Before i start hacking, has anyone had problems replacing the speakers?
Will they accept any old toy speaker lying about
and any issues surrounding upsizing the speaker like having to amp the signal?

I'm sorry I don;t have an answer for you but mine quit working a few months after I bent the thing.

I have not gotten around to opening it back up to check for a loose wire but I have also considered replacing it. 

I would try to find a speaker that will fit in the space and if it has any stats printed on it.  One with the same ohms should be no problem.

They're just little cheap crappy 8 ohm speakers, like you find in any radio or tape recorder.  Nothing special at all.

It shouldnt be too hard, measure your speaker and buy one with the same voltage, and if you have to at last resort, yank out the speaker to break its bindings, but dont damage the case. Its probably held in by screws or glue, either way it would be pretty easy to fix. You could glue the new one in with hot glue and it will hold nicely.

You can definitely swap the speaker out for  9 out of 10 toy speakers without a problem.

you know i just got a good idea!!! Remove it completely and put switches and pots in its spot, then just use an audio out jack to get the sound, its internal speaker takes too much power anyway
