Cheap components (UK)
« on: July 26, 2007, 05:06:26 PM »

Rapid Electronics are having a 24 hour sale. I thought I'd let you all know what I'd seen. Get your orders in before midday friday.
Why is it I can never think of anything I want in these situations?
I know that tomorrow afternoon when the sale is after I'll be able to think of loads.  Smiley
Hope this helps someone out though.
And by the way- No I don't work for them! Wish I did though. Staff discount would be proper handy.  Cheesy

I didn't say they would have anything left!
On a similar note did you know that Maplins are moving away from components and are going to be just a shit dixons?
Means the only way I can get stuff now is online. Not good when I only want 2 or 3 resistors.
I might open a shop. Or I might just continue being a lazy bastard and get a beer out of the fridge.  Grin

As per usual i make a big order and spend ages trying to think of every little thing i might need and as soon as i press the PAY button, i immediately remember the one thing that was the reason i was making an order in the first place and that i forgot to buy  Angry

Thats part of why I love the internet. It allows me to see that I'm not the only forgetful person on the planet. The whole of my flat is covered in post-it notes for that very reason.
The other reason I love the internet is hardcore pornography  Wink

I like Rapid.. though the delivery prices are annoying. (£5)
Maplins has cheaper delivery (£3 I think), though the general prices suck..

EDIT:  Woah! A place which is about in between the two: http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/
£1.50 delivery for any size.

Bitsbox was nice and simple to deal with, ordered Sunday night and everything was here Tuesday morning.  Boss drum.

Maplins has free delivery if you go into a shop and order stuff from there. They give you a ring when its arrived and you can just go and pick it all up.

Rapid and CPC are probably who we order from most often although JPR have good prices. Most places offer free shipping if you order over £30 of stuff.

I'll have to have a proper look at bitsbox, last time i tried the site was down

Maplins must have the worst prices ever though. I was forced to pay £2(!!!) for a SPDT switch, since I needed it urgently.

Sounds about like Radio Shack in the US.  The sell awful parts at a huge markup, and sometimes you just have to eat it and buy their shitty components.

If anyone in the UK doesn't know already, Rapid are doing this offer again tomorrow and friday.

Any order placed between midday thursday 27th and midday friday 28th will have end column pricing, i.e the biggest bulk order discount.

QUICK! before the SPST switches sell out!  Wink
