let it be . withe the gameboy and get nanoloop u can hook up ur gb with a midicabel or ur midigear , pc check it out its about 150 $ for gba or ds with midi cable or just 50 bucks for gb classic http://www.nanoloop.de/index.html
Actually planning on prosound modding my gbc and got a copy of nl 1.3 coming this week. To be honest, i cant fucking wait.
There are alot of cool soundproggs being released for other consols atm tho. The latest versions of Nanoloop works on the DS aswell as all lameboys. PSPSEQ is another great piece of software for the PSP. Its got farily smooth chip sound really.. Thinking NL 1.3 will be a nice addition.
Cheers for bringing this up tho. Love console music making!
Also, for those who want to get NL, it sounds best on the ol grey bastard. I read somewhere that gba produces a slightly more "fatty" sound, but for the glitched old times the grey is the winner.
i use little sound dj and nanoloop in synchronisation, and yes, i use the original grey block. the sound is far superior, + its just so much more aesthetically pleasing! (:
deam if u where good in soundengeeniring you would be aware of that it is sennsless thinking about a machine can give u a superior sound , pff come on mate you are the one who makes the sound
i mean a good programmed tr808 for example isnt better then good proogrammd and well mixed tr 808 samples its about the producer
"..... machine can give u a superior sound , pff come on mate you are the one who makes the sound "
Cant really figure out what you mean here.
"i mean a good programmed tr808 for example isnt better then good proogrammd and well mixed tr 808 samples its about the producer"
Obviously if you want a good production you need a good producer. Cant see what your getting at here either Smiley
"so gameboy is fun and recording is work"
??
I think i understand what your trying to say, and my response is that sometimes sound and music making is a greater thing for others and might involve more elements than you can possibly imagine. Not saying even i understand it all at times, but seeing it from that perspective has given alot. Or am i totally out fishing here?

A bit off topic but i'd have to disagree with you there. The whole point of using the actual machine is the geniune randomness of analogue and the 'feel' of the machines timing, which you usually can't replicate with external programming. I'd be far more willing to listen to a real 808 or 909 looping round a 4/4 techno pattern for an hour or so than a bunch of samples because the sounds from a real machine are going to be different every time and have some life to it where as the samples wil be totally sterile. I have drum machines like the Yamaha RX15 that i use just to sequence other percussion because the timing is just so 'disco' somehow and can't be replicated with programming, and believe me i've tried.
sorry, completely off topic and missing the point there possibly but i thought i'd say it anyway
hello yeah this is what i mean ,i agree with it for shure that a machine makes at everv single sound with another modulation but when you are good in WAV programming and some secrets its possible to modulate your own kind of "machine" i mean for example
use a pitch shifter
set all cents and semitones to zero
check out if there are some settings like voice drums deelay crossfade etc.
and if not check out the cent
now you should hear a slite moudlation
the most pitchshifters have a own kinda sound
now u record a mix event with the seq
than automate a event with an enveloper
the compressor shouldt be setet with hi release and low attack and if u like tweak the release
then u have your own powerfull machine (attack for ex.)
and the best at last just try to putt 40 vst in chain and play a singel sound
and your pc vst seq will turn into a beast unless your pc souncard is fit enough and its much more cleane the noisey hardwear
but man must do what man must and i do what i do (DEVO) i like to discuss raw
The whole point of using the actual machine is the geniune randomness of analogue and the 'feel' of the machines timing, which you usually can't replicate with external programming
come on if u mind about it
a pc seq runs straight , of course but when you just start to stripsilence all sounds and place them in unlinear timeingpositions and add atomated modulations fx in rare style and bounce them out and mix them again and again u can just make every loop soundalike tr ... und emu and what ever ist this not a kind of alien ussage or bending to use some fx in an unusualway
