Quick and easy bend (Toy Story Sound Matching game)
« on: July 30, 2008, 04:10:56 PM »

I picked this up at a Dollar General mainly to recycle the cool lighted button pad but after prodding it a bit I just wired some stuff and let it live.  (no camera at the moment sorry)

After opening it up turn it so the brown panel of switches and buttons is pointed towards you.

First of all you have to bypass the little "fuse" in the lower right near the power and start buttons.
Now, near the middle of the circuit board you find two resisors that kind of overlap.  Stick a finger in there and you'll find a speed/pitch control (I used a 1 Mohm pot).  Also, run a body contact from the right hand resistor and another from any LED/button pin and you've got a LOUD bloopy modulation point that has a huge range.

There's probably more since this thing randomizes the sounds to the buttons each time but I couldn't seem to get any mixing or multiple triggers.  Maybe bridge a few buttons for simultaneous presses?

Ah well, fun and LOUD anyway.
