KORG DDD5 MODS: £95 (installed)

The Korg DDD5 isn't an overwhelmingly exciting machine but when circuit bent it can still be a good source of some very nasty 12 bit digital filth and grinding percussion. Its one of those woolly sounding late 80's machines with a massive total of 14 onboard sounds, but there are sockets for extra sound cards which can be bought very cheaply these days and the groove / swing control isn't bad at all. Theres also some decent pitch and decay parameters for the sounds. The strangest thing about the DDD5 was the removable front panels with a whole different panel for working in pattern or song mode! Why this ever made economical sense god only knows, but most DDD5's have lost the 'song mode' panel by now anyway so i guess most people will never have experience the full on excitment of swapping them over.

MODS INCLUDE:

24 way main patchbay: More information and details of our patchbay mods can be found HERE. The patchbay on this machine cannot be mounted on the casing as there just isn't any room inside the thing so as you can see, we have mounted the patchbay in an external case bolted to the side of the main unit. The patchbay on this thing turns an otherwise unremarkable drum machine into a savage beast of a percussion monster. Imagine being trapped at a panel beating convention while someone sandpapers your eardrums, and you get the general idea of what these mods are capable of. Crunchy is an understatement!

The patchbay also includes 2 X Patchable switches and 2 X 3 way Patching multiples for a huge range of extra percussion grinding possibilities.
