Look what I found at a flea market!
« on: September 22, 2008, 07:34:26 AM »

PT-1, 80, and 100, $15 (10£) for all of them! In the process of bending the PT-100 and am gonna give it a nice paint job.  The PT-80 and 100 were a bit dirty so I stripped them of electronics and gave them a nice washing, now they look brand new!

Hope to get up a post soon with videos of my bent casio MT-55, PT-10, "wuv luv" furby type toy and my Hing Hon EK-001 noise machine :P

nice one, these are beautiful

the pt-100 looks like it might be similar inside to the pt-180, which i posted a thread about the other week...so there should be some sweet distortion bends in there (i found cutting some of the wire jumpers produced some pretty nice effects)

http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,779.0.html

oh also theres a thread here somewhere on the pt-87, it has some nice bends that *should* work on the pt-80 as well,

anyway cant wait for some hot bending video action!  ;D

I'd be very curious to hear about what you got out of the MT-55.

Well, the MT-55 has 12 mods total. It was my first project... I probed the board over the course of more than a month after getting it.  Once I put my video up I think it can be removed from the "un-bendable" topic  ;)

I hope so too.  It's been really dull over the winter not being able to wake up early and go out to search for things.

I was much more successful at this local flea market that goes on every weekend here... it's like 100+ yard sales going on all at once and there's some really good finds there every time because of the sheer size of the place, and everybody there is desperate to get rid of things so if you tell them you aren't interested they'll just keep lowering the price..  But of course, bad weather = no flea market sellers..

* In the US we call car boot sales "yard sales" or "garage sales." I understand those terms since it's people selling things out of their yard or garage, but why is the term "Car boot sale" used in the UK?

Because its usually a load of cars lined up in a field. People just open their car boots (or trunks in the US i'd imagine), set up a table and sell their crap.

That's what it's like at the "Flohmarkt" (flea market) here. With an accentuation on the word 'crap' of course...  ;)

Oh, thanks for the enlightenment...

House/flat

Trunk/car boot

Fleamarket/Flohmarket

I always prefer British terms over US terms. And why the hell aren't we on the metric system over here yet... ugh.

Car boot sales are usually held in a field where anyone can come and sell unwanted goods. Most of the time these sellers pay a fee for their pitch and will set up a table.
Some people also sell cracked software on disks (tsk-tsk) and other things like tobacco etc.
The great thing about Car Boot sales is when the event's finished for the day and everyone packs up, some people throw some of their stuff in the skip (if one's available) and some really good stuff can be obtained for free if you're willing to look  ;)
Lol, it's like this post has turned into a language lesson  ;D
So I take it that the difference with a Flea-Market is that it's held in a large warehouse???
