Casio SK5 soft reset
« on: July 30, 2013, 12:44:49 PM »

I see on the Circuit Benders sit for 'available mods' that the CASIO SK 5 has a 'soft reset'.

Anyone know how to make this?  My Casio has the odd 'crash'/'hang' while bending wildly, and would lovely an easy reset (sometimes even removing the power cable, when batteries are in won't reset it)

you can usually do this by wiring a push button across two of the pins of one of the chips you use for most of the bends. If you can deliberately make the SK lock up or crash you can then probe the chips for a combination of pin shorts that bring it back to life.
There will be different pin combinations that perform a soft reset for various different crashes but you'll probably find that a couple of different shorts will bring the machine back from 70-80% of lockups. You probably won't find a connection that rescues it from every crash, so use the one that works best.
