casio sa-5 hidden sounds?
« on: September 04, 2009, 02:27:13 PM »

because i am having such a hard time finding old casio or yamaha keyboards i am just going to give up and buy a brand new sa-5 . they are $55. but i noticed that they dont have 100 tones like the sa-9 i am replacing.

is there a way to get the missing tones like on the sa-2 or is it completely different? because otherwise it seems a bit pointless.

the main ones i use are

06 pipe organ
13 tuba
38 metal guitar
39 slap bass
53 synth-accordion
54 synth-brass
56 synth-lead
64 metal lead
67 plunk extend
68  pop lead
94 rock drum

You can definitely get them. Just poke around the main IC. Sometimes even crossing both IC's will get you some nice goodies.

In my experience with the SA series, you can find two points on the main IC which while connected allow you to access hidden sounds using the first 5 keys on the keyboard. You may not be able to find all of those instruments you listed but probably some of them.

Check out my diagram of the SA-8 , it's probably very similar to the SA-5.
