Title: hello, need advice about speaker volume

hello, everyone,
I'm pretty new to electronics, and I was just modifying a device with a photoresistor when I came to a problem...
So I added a photoresistor to the line that goes into the speaker to act as a volume control, it works, but the overall volume is severely reduced, since even with all the lights in my room, the photoresistor still has a resistance of 6K ohms.
If I connect the circuit to line out, it's a bit loud, but easily adjusted with a trimpot. I was wondering if there was a way to compensate for the volume loss when I connect it to the speaker, while still being able to use the photoresistor to control volume? Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look around the volume control part of the circuit.
