Post by: haarp on June 24, 2007, 08:00:29 PM
hi everyone

i'll try to do my best so ... sorry for my poor english

i need some help with a toy found in a secondhand trade.

i don't know when it was released, maybe recently and it's not easy to bend it
i tried to find different loops, glitches or pitches but nothing except crashes and reboot its 8 activities
i also worked with resistors and pots at the end of the aligator clips with the same result

can you tell me, according the pictures, if this stuff can be bent ?
if you need more informations or pics, please let me know

get a 1M pot and 2 aligator clips and try it set to max resistance on both sides of all those resistors whilst hitting buttons - one or more of them is bound to do something :) also a 1k pot on the battery + connector sometimes makes a nice effect (it fakes the machine losing power)

i think it burnt ...  :-\
firstly i put a 1k pot on + connector but nothing happens exept crashes when i turned down pot
then i tested many points without result or same as before, crashes and activities reboot
i built a "bend finder" from casperelectonics, that's a great and helpful tool ... not for this toy

it was released in 2006 as i saw on web, is it too recent to bend ?
there's noting to do with the ship, most of bends are like pressing buttons but i could do mistakes and must do more test, please tell me guys you got some tips

... but it doesn't start any more ... ouch

V-techs usually have some kind of fuse that blows very easiliy. Usually its a very low value resistor which is inside a clear plastic tube but i can't see one on your picture. Normally you could just bridge that resistor and the machine would come back to life.

Whats that black line on the top of the board in your 3rd photo? Try bridging that and see if it comes back to life.

yea it fixed my alphabet desk - just bridging a small point on the board...

ok i'll try these tips as soon as i got time
i received my s'n'math + s'n'read and i would spend more time on them first
but i'll check the vtech very soon to let you know if it works again

thanks a lot for your answers :)

ps: i don't already know what's the black point on the top, we can see a "wave" on the other side witch define this connection. i'm currently searching for this information. it seems join the speaker and the battery
