Yamaha CS01
« on: November 17, 2007, 12:29:29 PM »

I've had it for years, then someone goes and connects the wrong polarity PSU. DEAD. There's an LA4138 chip by the power/amp bit that looks burnt, what's the chances of finding it? And has anyone modded on of these before? The filter res is on a switch, hi/lo, and it has a slider that does sweet FA on the VCA, and I heard someone mention a patchbay in the speaker socket.... google weren't much help.
Cheers!

since the LA4138 is an audio amplifier, why don't desolder it and use an kit or selfmade
amplifier (radio shack, kemo-kits) on an extra pcb instead ...

it seems that the LA4138 is obsolete (never produced anymore)

It looks like the power supply is decently protected. Check out the service manual:

You may have to do some rebuilding in the PS if you blew the regulator or any of the diodes.

The power amp chip may just look burned from being hot during normal operation.
