Title: Help! HR-16 Sounds Bent without mods!
Post by: thebeatmarket on December 16, 2013, 05:10:59 PM
Hi all,

I got an HR 16 unbent but it sounds like it is already bent. i've changed out the PCM54HP, Intel processor, Re-burned the OS and Sound roms. The only thing left to touch is the ASIC.

At this point i'm at a bit of a loss. even if i were to find a spare ASIC - How the hell do you pull it to swap???

I've got a HR16 like that, and the problem is with the ASIC on mine.

It sounds kind of like the end of the world:

You need a tool called a PLCC extractor to get it out, but seeing as its a custome Alesis IC you won't find a replacement unless you can find another HR16 with other problems and can build one machine out of the two.
