searching for vactrol schematics i came across this one
vactrol pattern synthesizer
very charming i think 
not shure if this is the same schematics, but it looks simple (some aspects i don't overstand though)

i have also an simple vactrol compressor diagram in an old Graig Anderton book
wich i'm not posting here because of copyrights  But thats also charming thingy

btw, whats the difference between vactrol and optocoupler ?

I don't think there is any difference - I've only ever heard one person use the term vactrol, and it does exactly the same thing. you can get optocouplers in ic form

ah, i tought it was the same.. vactrol sounds nicer i think, but optocoupler sounds more scientific
