JVC KB-600H ... Bendable?
« on: December 22, 2009, 02:13:33 AM »

I have an old JVC KB-600H laying around which I need to fix because for some reason there are no sounds coming out of it, except for 3 odd keys... and the last time I used it there was no problems with it.  So I think internally there is a wire loose as it has been repaired a couple of times before.

Here's an example of one:

I wouldn't mind circuit-bending it and seeing just what it is capable of.  If anyone has heard of anyone bending a JVC, then let me know... though I have a feeling that's highly unlikely.

I'll have to open it up and let you all know how I go  :-\

Let me know if anyone has any suggestions or ideas!

*Edit: Links to any technical guides, service manuals, datasheets, chipsets, etc...  Post them here PLEASE!  :)

hmmm, does it actually say JVC on the circuitboard?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually made by someone else entirely and might actually be something else in a differebt case.

Hey yeah, you're right.  I'll have to check that.  Wouldn't surprise me if the chips have NEC or something like that on them!  Knowing this will make my job a hell of a lot easier... thanks! :)

Apparently the JVC range of keyboards were also released as a legitimate range Lowrey keyboards... only the cases were different colors and had different logo, etc.  So knowing this will also help me a great deal  ;D

I just aquired a LOWREY V-120 Keyboard--it is the same as JVC KB-700
I will bend it and tell soon.

I know this is an old thread but i am looking at two JVC clones with the intention of bends/mods
(lowrey V100 and Kimball V1 Voyager III)
they are nearly identical from the top view

specifically interested in:
  • replacing RCA outs with 1/4"
  • improving the s/n ratio
  • Midi in, note drum trigger at  a minimum, clock synch would be killer!
  • individual outs of drum sounds
  • tone controls of drum sounds
  • analog filter of main voices
  • tone controls/technofication of main voices
  • hacking/disruption of the arpegio patterns
  • somebody explain to me how the recorder function works!

i think most of these would qualify as mods rather then bends but i am hopeful that the analog design of these boards will lend them to more expansive modification...

this dude in Germany has modded 3 boards in this range

cheers!
