hi all
new here
just wanted to give something back for a couple of months' worth of lurking..
i've been looking over the collected info on bending the Casio SA series
and came up with this matrix, filled in the blanks poking around in an actual SA-2 specimen
maybe i'm doing an old job all over again, but i couldn't seem to find this info anywhere.
so for those sensitive to spoiler alerts..
the action seems to lie in connecting pins 11-18 to pins 23-30.
i'll start from pin 30 as a common, since it's one of the outer pins and it begins at the lowest key..
so for the OKI M6387-11:
30 > 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 (all keyboard semitones, going up)
29 > " (continued..)
28 > "
27 > " (.. so 4x8 = 32 keys in all.)
26 > 11 = Pushbutton 1 (= 0 on SA-1) for sound selection.
26 > 12 = 2
26 > 13 = 3
26 > 14 = 4
26 > 15 = 5 (first hidden one.)
26 > 16 = tempo up
26 > 17 = volume up
26 > 18 = rhythm (push any key to select)
25 > 11 = Pushbutton 6
25 > 12 = 7
25 > 13 = 8
25 > 14 = 9
25 > 15 = 10
25 > 16 = stop rhythm
25 > 17 = tempo down
25 > 18 = volume down
24 > 11 = bass drum trigger
24 > 12 = Snare
24 > 13 = Hi hat
24 > 14 = Demo 1 (jingle bells)
24 > 15 = Demo 2 (happy birthday)
24 > 16 = Demo 3 (waltz?)
24 > 17 = Demo 4 (twinkle twinkle little star)
24 > 18 = Demo 5 (alle menschen werden Brüder)
23 > 11 = open Hihat / cymbal
23 > 12 = Cowbell
this basically gives you access to all 100 sounds of the SA-1 (which happens to be one of my favourite keyboards
)
plus 5 drumsounds to trigger.
plus the digitally stepped volume control, plus 5 demo's - yeah whatever.
for my SA-1 things behave largely the same way, except for the lack of drumtriggers and only 1 demo, be it a verrrrry nice one indeed..
OKI M6387-018
All of the above, except:
24 > 11 = Pushbutton 1 again
24 > 12 = 2 again
24 > 13 = 3 again
24 > 14 = 4 again
24 > 15 = 5 again
.. so no drum triggers..
24 > 16, 17, 18 = Demo 1 (wake me up before you go-go)
23 > ... not implemented.
if i ever get my hands on any SA series keyboards using other IC's (?), i'll try to update the list.
anybody wants to chip in, feel free.
hope somebody finds this useful.
