Title: IC PCB
Post by: jamiewoody on March 26, 2010, 05:19:42 AM
does anybody know if anyone besides radioshack has these? (http://external.ak.fbcdn.net/safe_image.php?d=c425108ba0df8208a0ba450a6e968d3d&w=90&h=90&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsci-toys.com%2Fscitoys%2Fscitoys%2Fradio%2Fpc_board.jpg)

if the image is not  big enough it is a pcb with traces coming from the middle, so you do not have to use wires or touch components together to solder them. (which i have been doing!).

i tried one of these, from radio shack, and it went much smoother! but, if i could find them for a fraction of the price of radio shack, i would be happy! (as a matter of fact, radio shack was backordered on their website).

thanks.

Make them.  You can get PCB software such as Eagle free for non-commercial use.  There are various websites out there that show you how to get the layout onto the board, and etch it.

way too much trouble, if 98% of what i want to do would work on the kind in the photo. i want to spend my time breadboarding and building...not breathing harsh chemicals and crap.

i found out the word for what i was looking for is MATCHING PCB. it "matches" a solderless breadboard, which makes "design it, build it" a lot quicker.

also, veroboard makes a striped board, or stripboard, which is pretty hip to a lot of layouts i find on websites.

radioshack carries the MATCHING boards, but i am always on a quest to beat their prices. they seem to corner the market in this regard...
