Fuck the SK-1! This is the best glitch machine ever!
« on: July 31, 2009, 09:23:29 PM »

I've just added a 26 point patch bay to this beast and it sounds AMAZING! Really fucked up glitches, wild stereo echo effects, heavy dub grooves, banging industrial techno and screaming distortion! There are also really nice ambient grooves, it is psychedelic as fuck! I haven't discovered all the possibilities yet as there are thousands of variations what with the extra voice effects and harmony options. Stacking up the patch bay points just keeps increasing the amount of different sounds available. I am very pleased!

And its got full size keys!

Thanks!
I got all the components from Rapid Electronics.
I didn't really give the keyboard the justice it deserves on the vid.
The best thing about it is you can have distorted drums playing along to glitch loops then you can solo on top with various other clean unaffected sounds. And vice versa. The more I play with it the more I realise how good it is.
I urge anyone to bend one of these to see if they can find a pitch bend control as I would really like to add one to it. I was unable to find one. I did stop further exploration though after I had added the patch bay as I didn't want to fuck it up!
If anyone one is interested I took some photo's before I put it back together.

I haven't bent one of these but it's more than likely an 1tc1799 will do the pitch control mod. if it's crystal clocked then an ltc will do it. Check out the getlofi shop or download the ltc data sheet and make your own.

This is a nice piece of work. Sounds really good.

Cheers for your reply and nice one for the tip on the LTC 1799.
I don't think it is crystal clocked though as I couldn't find one on the circuit. Do they all look like rectangular plastic cubes?

There are 3 blue ceramic components on the circuit board that have 3 legs.  And printed on the circuit board next to them is 8.00 mhz, 12 mhz and 9.4 mhz. Are these clock crystals? I've just noticed they are labeled CL 1, CL2 and CL 3.

They are ceramic resonators.  You'll probably see that the outer two legs go off to the nearby chip and the middle leg goes to ground.  You get much the same effect as a very inaccurate crystal with two capacitors across it.

If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.

Does that mean that one of these will control the pitch?
