Title: YAMAHA RX17 frozen at startup - Error message says:
Post by: csrMark on August 31, 2007, 07:38:02 PM
Just pulled out my old Yamaha RX17 and when I turn it on, I get an error message on the display that says the following:

! NO BATTERY !
* Seven'teen *

When I look at the manual, it says that this error means:

CAUSE: You have tried to change the length of a pattern that already contains data

REMEDY: Write a new pattern at the desired Pattern length.

Problem here is I can't do anything with the machine... its completely frozen and nothing works?

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

maybe a factory reset ? or else indeed try a fresh back up battery....
in both cases you will loose your patches unfortunately....

Yeah, a new battery should sort that out, i've seen that before on RX17's. On some machines if you are quick enough in changing the battery or you change the battery with the machine turned on you can probably save any data in it.

Aren't the batteries cold welded in or something stupid like that?

Its just a CR2032 soldered to the board if i remember correctly.

Buy a new battery holder with PCB pins and it should be an easy fix
