Title: LED - how do you attach to a drum machine/ keyboard casing
Post by: davethedoobie on May 04, 2009, 01:23:42 AM
Does anyone have any idea how you attach a LED to the casing of a drum machine or keyboard?  Any suggestions welcome.

The simplest way is just to drill a hole and push it through.  Pick a drill a size smaller than your LED, and it should be a tight interference fit in the hole.  If it's too tight, bore the hole out with some sort of reamer a tiny bit at a time until it pushes in.  If it's slightly too loose, a blob of hot glue will keep it in place.

Next up, you've got little black plastic LED clips that consist of a "top hat" shaped clip, and a serrated ring.  You clip the top hat through the hole, push the LED up from behind so it clips in place, and then push the ring on so it ratchets up and grips the LED.

You can get LEDs mounted in little metal bezels with a threaded body, which you fix in place with a small nut.

Thanks Gordon 5 star indeed!  Never thought it would be as simple as that.  I have the clips you mentioned but could not fathom out how to attach them.

Now what advice do you have for bending a synth in the yamaha dx range?
