Hello all,
I'm hoping to fit a pitch bend in my girlfriends mum and dads casio.
Im looking for advice about what potentiometer to use... whats the technique for finding the right one?
any advice on this is welcome i'am a complete novice.
thanks
oscar
You won't be able to just use a pot to change the pitch on a SA, you'll have to build some kind of oscillator from a 555 timer or an LTC1799. Theres a fair bit of information on this if you do a search.
thanks for the response....so it's not a particularly simple job??
well, that depends on your veiwpoint. Its certainly more complex than just pulling out a resistor and replacing it with a pot, but you can build a timing oscillator with about 5 components and its a useful thing to be able to do.
So i have to build my own oscillator. Once i've done which how would i go about rigging it up?
I sense I'm speaking to a master, you'll have to forgive my ignorance.
If you could give me a step by step i would eternally gratefull.
thanks mate

I know for a fact that someone has posted a small stripboard layout for a 555 timer based oscillator on this forum before, and if i recall correctly is was in a thread relating to some kind of casio SA.
Or try this http://www.sailormouth.org/oscmain.html (http://www.sailormouth.org/oscmain.html)
Or buy an LTC1799 kit from get lofi http://www.getlofi.com/?page_id=1302 (http://www.getlofi.com/?page_id=1302) - or just build your own.
just don't get in trouble with gf's mum and dad! might make life hard for you....lol
