Title: 2 keyboards running from a single LTC1799?
Post by: Boomchikawawa on April 11, 2013, 06:07:49 PM
Hi guys, I'm wondering if I can run a Yamaha PSS270 and PSS570 from a single LTC1799 oscillator.

I currently have the osc in the PSS570, with a switch between fixed crystal and variable LTC mode. If I housed the LTC separately and patched it to the Xtal input on both keyboards at the same time, would it cause a problem? I could make them both slow down and speed up at the same time  :) I would use a common ground, obviously  :P

Thanks!

Should be fine! I can't think of any reason it'd cause damage, so best get stuck in and see how it goes...  ;)

If it doesn't work, you may need to buffer the clock signals, a 2n3904 on each should do it, but you probably won't need to.

Though they may have different pitch ranges, so you might be pitching them both up but have one crash before the other does.
