Title: my first bend, so i could do with a little info!
Post by: sithedrummer on April 02, 2009, 06:49:27 PM
i ma currently doing my first bend on a pss 780. plenty of success with the pcm drum chip. some really nice sounds. however i cant seem to get the 2 fm synthesis chips to do anything but crash. some nice noises during the crash and sometime when i turn it back on, but nothing useable. i can only obtain data on the toshiba chip(static memory) but not the yamaha chip(which i presume is the meat and veg of the matter). having had luck with the drums, i don't want to fry it. can anyone tell me the pinout for the chip? or any other advice would be appreciated.   cheers.

I can't remember which FM chip it has, is it the YM2413 or YM3812?

hi. cheers for the reply. the yamaha chip says                     8924pd
                                                                               XG503B0-132

these are the only 2 serial numbers on it!

thanks again.

It might not be labelled Yamaha.  Chances are it will start "YM" something.
