Title: Drone Harp
Post by: tbone on June 18, 2011, 11:18:12 AM
Do many people here make DIY synths?

I thought I'd post this one here as its a combo of bends and a 40106 based oscillator synth, but the only real 'bend' to the harp is a pitch mod.

Drone Harp [Circuit Bent Harp + Heterodyning Oscillators] (http://player.vimeo.com/video/25250901)

As well as the pitch mod I added a line out and on/off switch to the harp but there wasn't really much else inside it. I liked the harps sounds, especially with the pitch right down, so I wanted to get more out of it.
Probing with an oscillator I found if I hooked it up to the connection points of the strings it would start spewing out some glitches, I wanted a little more versatility that just one 555 so I opted for 4 oscillators from a 40106 each connected to a different point. As the output from a 40106 sounds pretty great itself I thought I'd make the output selectable so I could choose whether it was triggering a glitch or outputting a drone, then I'd be able to mix them both!
