Title: oscillating LED circuit for VACTROL

hi guys

Do people have a good circuit they use for a pulsing/fading/oscillating LED to control an LDR in a VACTROL setup?

I have used a 555 based circuit inside my SK1 but the power sag of the 555 introduces audible noise.  around 9V preferred.
