Title: Frying a machine
Post by: Signal:Noise on December 06, 2006, 11:18:53 PM
It just makes me want to cry...though I have a spare machine that I fried a different chip on, so all hope is not yet lost.

what did you fry?

the worst thing is getting a bent machine almost finished and then frying the thing just as you go looking for that final bend....

A yamaha dd6 was the victim this time. fortunately I terminally fried a different chip on the first dd6 i bought, so after a tricky bit of IC surgery, all is now well.

ive now fried 2 pss-140 the first due too some very sloppy soldering the second due to buying the keyboard of ebay and not checking the output of the power supply that came with it. plugged in the supply  turned on the power and various parts of the board started too smoke, bastard ebayers. it was made all the worse because i had spent 3 hours before hand installing the bends and had it working perfectly i only used the power supply because i was too lazy too look for some batteries.

im now bending my third and all is well, as the saying goes 3rd time lucky.

the 3rd one dosent work properly either it just churns out random sounds without touching the keys, it sounds quite interesting but its not what i expected or wanted.

i think i need to find a new hobbie ;D
