i'd imagine you get a CB mic and solder a jack socket on the end. Job done.

That guy is a bit impressed by himself isn't he?

'Over the last decade ive dedicated myself to the ART that is Circuit Bending with the intention of creating only the finest of bent goods'
'I strive for QUALITY and my bentstruments are FAVORED among musicians of all genres IN ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD'

i'd like to think he's taking the piss, but somehow i suspect he means it  :D  ::)

I like this one: "...guarantee each device sold and solder to meet NASA specs".

Yes, it would appear to be a CB microphone with the 4-pin plug removed and a wee box with a jack socket fitted instead.  Maybe it's a "power mike" with a preamp built in - if you want to make such a thing, I recommend picking up a copy of the ARRL Handbook, RSGB Handbook or "Technical Topics" by Pat Hawker G3VA (a very clever man who designed incredibly compact radio equipment during the Second World War, and referred to his "suitcase set" designs in veiled tones in his Technical Topics column in Radcom for years ;-) ).

I could stick a quarter inch jack socket on some Tait PMR microphones.  Guaranteed to have been used and abused, and subjected to the sort of battering they can only get in a council workman's Transit van.  Mine's a pint, thanks.

If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.

I can't believe it,Goodbirds,That same thing happened to my CB setup. I finally took mine to dealer who took radio out of another bike swapped it out and it still squealed.They switched it back and then tried a new headset om my helmet and that repaired it..

Here we go again.  ::)

Goodbirds, what? What same thing happened to your CB setup?

Oh, i've removed your signature as it appeared to be a spam link to some gaming cards sales website, and you wouldn't want to be accused of spamming.

I just tried something slightly different:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Make_a_LoFi_Mic_from_an_Old_Telephone_Speaker/

It didn't seem to work at all. Then i plugged it in as a speaker and... it still didn't work, but after i set the volume to max there was some very very very quiet sound coming out of it. What could I be doing wrong? I think i have another old phone somewhere, maybe I'll try that one.
