Alesis hr 16 issues
« on: May 13, 2011, 04:29:50 PM »

Yo!

Managed to get my hands on an alesis hr16 from the us of a...

Plugged it in with a acdc multivolt adapter thinggy but its not working rite at allll!

Basically i get a really really low noise output from the pads on output 1, but only wen pressing the pads individually,
the pattern or song play options give me no sound watsoever...

The tape out provides a massively loud feedback loop tht i can seem to adjust by moveing the select slider up and down... But this is obviously not wat the unit is made to do!?

Im not really wanting to circuit bend it (just yet!) but i realy would like to gettit workin proper... Cos currently wits end with this one is being reached... The unit is definatly trying to work but just isnt! I have a complete guide on maling it work and the origionall manual but neither is really helping me....

Please can someone sugest a way forwad!? Or does any body know where i can get it looked at/fixed?????

Muchos gracias!

just to confirm that i hacked a 9Vdc 700mA adapter today and the HR16 runs fine on that,
take out everything but the transformer and connect the 9V cable direct to the secondary side.
that's all  :)
so 700mA seems sufficient, the PSU doesn't even get warm (after 3 hours testing)
