Tandy electronic drums mods
« on: April 24, 2011, 12:02:53 AM »

Hello all!
I found a few little bits and bobs in this lovely little analogue drum toy like decay length (swaping some caps) and trigger volume level and potentially individual outs for each sound.  I was wondering if anyone has modded one of these and has any tips or photos of modifications.

Cheers yall!

This was mine, but i sold it a while back and forgot to take any notes. I do have another 3 in a cupboard somewhere though.

Some of the kick drums you can get out of that thing are absolutely savage. Theres a couple of demos here:

EDIT: click on the links not the players. The players seem to have got caught up in our attempts to stop people killing our bandwidth by hotlinking to demos on the site.

wow! nice one!

Youre getting some really great sounds out of it.
Do you remember how you did any of the mods to this?  I have found by changing the values of capacitors near each trigger the sustain can be altered but I cant seem to find alot else...

Cheers!

I've just picked one up off eBay and was wondering if anyone had any tips for this before i get started?
I know Squidfanny has done a few of these incredibly well..  Dj Task - how did yours go?

guess I should try to keep a log and post some pics!

Also, maybe weird question, are piezos just piezos?  Are they any better now than they were back when this guy was made?  They're really not very responsive and while i could just at momentary on push buttons for each, I'd kind of like to keep with the original...
