Alesis HR-16 missing characters on screen

Hi
Newbie needs help..
Bought a blue replacement from here for my faded HR16, but it has four blocks on the right bottom of screen..
This was there before on old screen, but assume it was to do with the screen dying..
Any one seen this and know how to fix it?
the blocks are taking the place of characters, so when switched on it says ERSION 1.09  and EAT not BEAT
