Alesis HR-16B displays "Save all pats & songs to tape" when powered on - HELP!!!

Alesis HR-16B displays "Save all patts & songs to tape" when powered on, then won't do anything else. All of the tests come back fine, have done a hard reset, and have replaced the battery.
Any idea what could be wrong?
I've tried reloading the factory sounds from Midi-Ox via sysex, but it doesn't find the drum machine. Help!
