yeah, i tried it out today, like you said, the plastic is melting away :/... don't know what to do... if i use a dimmer then it would reduce the light beam also and i don't want that... are there any other slides? metallic? do you use only two pieces of glass? can you shove me some pictures, just to know how it looks...

hmm, in your case , you better use two pieces of glass indeed...
try to find glass of 1 mm thick, and let it cut in the size of your slides then
but still, they will react very fast and live short on 500 watt.
or install an extra fan inside your projector
or put a piece of glass instead of the heath shield
