Recently started building some synths and when I found my old "toy" keyboards in the garage I started reading about circuit bending. Started with my SK1 (up next are Casio Mt31, Casio CT380, Rapman, alesis hr16 :))

It´s not finished just yet cause I´m waiting for some parts (pots, midi etc.) I will also make a panel where the speaker was to hold the audio out, midi in and maybe power (might place in the back). I´m thinking about the phat filter mod also or maybe a seq (placed in the emty space above preset switches).

So far it has:
- 28 patches in patchbay with 4 helper/preset switches and 4 helper/preset pots.
- 25 preset switches
- filter bypass (on-off)
- poly voice pot
- pitch pot (not working with 500k pot...will try lower res and a resistor)
- drum mute switch
- soft reset switch

It makes beautiful noise ;D Will try to make a video when it´s finished.

i´ve learned alot so far from building it like I will only use single core wire from now on and I will always check switch/pot orientation before soldering....

Extremely cool.  I love the casework.
If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.

Thats a nice job, i wish i had the time and/or dedication to build stuff into new enclosures like that.

Nightmare bit of wiring though, ever heard of cable ties?  ;D ;)
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool

Nice work!  Is the panel wood?

PS: good luck with the MT 31.  Not too much there.  The HR-16 should keep you happy, though.

thanks for nice words :)

Hehe, it rings a bell....nah seriously I tried to tidy it up a bit after i took the pic.

Yep, it´s wood. I got all the wood for case and panel off a defect ikea shelf.

Yeah, I´m a bit afraid of damaging the mt31 cause i really like it as it is! Looking forward to messing with the HR-16 though. Might try the 6 position rotary switch combination or a d-sub connection and build one box with patchbay and one box with switches.

Btw. does anyone know a good way to get "pitchcontrol" of the Sk1. The ghazala scheme didn´t work that well...I think I´ve read somewhere about using lower resistance pot and add a low ohm resistor?

Played a bit more with it now and my god it´s fun!! Haven´t tried the patchbay though since I only have one rca cable.

Very nice work on a first bend!

hahaha, I've got wood requisitioned from old Ikea shelving as well.  ;D

Can I ask, what have you done for the back of the synth, is it open or sealed?

bent sam

real nice keyboard you got here.

its looking like a proper old fashioned moog synth.

can't wait for that video ;D
Yer well.............
