Title: Alesis HR-16 repair
Post by: billysurf on January 18, 2018, 09:21:25 PM
Where can I get a Alesis HR-16 repaired? Some of the pads , bass, snare, etc.. no longer work. I bought this HR-16 new an '89 and cleaned it several times but it is not functioning now. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Clean the board side contacts with wire wool and switch cleaner. but make absolutely sure you don't have any stray bis of wool shorting anything.
Add wire glue or conductive paint to the contacts on the pad side.

I used this permanent repair paint for remote control buttons, it fixed both my MMT8s and I did them 5 years ago:

You just paint it on the button's rubber contacts - I didn't even do the PC board side and they're still going strong today even after 5 years.

There are probably similar products around besides this one that do the same but I can vouch for this product

I was just reading review on amazon for that stuff, and theres a lot of people saying you have to use it all in one go. Is that the case?

I take it that its some sort of epoxy based glue as you have to mix it. Thats probably a lot harder wearing than normal wire glue, but i've not had a wire glue repair go wrong yet.
I guess time will tell.

You can just take a small amount of each part and mix it on a board, like you do for araldite or epoxy glues. That's what I do, then the rest is still useable for later, in their own resealable pots.

Having said that, the wire glue sounds good, no mixing  :)
