Title: Replacing Casio SK1 ROM with custom ROM
Post by: SynthularModulus on December 07, 2019, 10:43:48 PM
Anyone explored the possibility of replacing the factory ROM on the SK1 with some sort of custom ROM? I would be interested in replacing it with some sort of programmable ROM with my own samples. I have heard of this being done on drum machines, so perhaps its possible on an SK1? If it's any help, I read somewhere that the SK1 ROM is a 2C3256 chip and the datasheet for that chip can be found here on page 53. http://www.bitsavers.org/components/ncr/1985_NCR_Microlectronics_Data_Book.pdf (http://www.bitsavers.org/components/ncr/1985_NCR_Microlectronics_Data_Book.pdf)

I don't suppose there is a relatively simple way to swap that with an at least "somewhat compatible" EEPROM, is there?
