all casio models and concertmate equivilents....
« on: December 09, 2009, 08:04:51 PM »

i was wondering if there is a website out there showcasing ALL casio keyboard models and their generic realistic concertmate equivilents?

it seems every other day i am hearing of new older models i am not familiar with.

here are the ones i have not bent yet.

concertmate 500
concertmate 300
casio pk-1
casio sa-2

if i am not mistaken, CM300 is the same as pt-1?

ideally, i would like to do something different with each keyboard, or stretch my imagination on each one.

i know the basic bends on sk1 and sa2 already...

This site would be a good place to start:
http://www.casiosk1.com/index.cfm

... and this one:
http://weltenschule.de/TableHooters/instruments.html

There were many Casio keyboards that were licensed to Radio Shack for release under the Realistic brand.  I'd start with a search on eBay for 'Concertmate' and grab as many photos of as many different models as you can and then search on Google to identify their Casio equivalents.  I've seen rare Casio VL models under the Concertmate brand and I'm not just talking about the classic VL-1 either... I've seen at least 5 other VL models (a silver model, a stereo model, a version with 32 keys and a silver, german-language VL with no built-in speaker!)... most probably the VL-5 and the VL-10.

The nice thing about Concertmate keyboards is that all of those rare, hard-to-find Casio keyboards become easier to find... especially if you are not a purist and don't mind having an inferior label on what is obviously a superior toy!  ;D

*Edit: Radio Shack even released a real analog Concertmate version of the Moog Synthesizer called the MG-1... and have now become as rare and collectible as an original Moog itself.

i'll start with the links you posted...thanks.

actually i have purchased a couple of "concertmates" on ebay. i was hoping, somewhere, there was a list of casio/concertmate equivilents. i know in the 70s, also, realistic/concertmate carried moog synths! (wish i had a wayback machine?!!).

Check out my post in the Circuitbending discussion forum (main forum).  It's entitled 'CONCERTMATE AND THE CASIO FAMILY'.  I have posted as many Concertmate keyboards as I could find and hope to expand the list until it becomes a complete, exhaustive reference for anyone who wishes to buy a Concertmate keyboard and bend it.

Here's the thread:
http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1393.0.html

Hope it helps you and leads you in the right direction!  ;D

reposted from other thread, for the sake of searchability later:

Here's a list detailing all of the Concertmate keyboards released by Radio Shack and their Casio equivalents placed next to them for quick and easy reference.  The list is by no means exhaustive, but I'm hoping that will change as it grows and has new models added to it over time.  If there are any I have missed or you are able to identify any of the models I've placed a '#' next to, then please post them below so I may add them to the existing list.

Here goes...

Realistic Rap-Master - Casio RAP-1/RapMan
--
Radio Shack MD-500 - Casio #
Radio Shack MD-501 - Casio #
Radio Shack MD-981 - Casio #
Radio Shack MD-982 - Casio #
Radio Shack MD-992 - Casio #
Radio Shack MD-1121 - Casio #
Radio Shack MD-1150 - Casio CTK-550
Radio Shack MD-1160 - Casio CTK-551
Radio Shack MD-1210 - Casio CTK-651AD
Radio Shack MD-1600 - Casio CTK-558
Radio Shack MD-1700 - Casio WK-1600/1630
Radio Shack MD-1800 - Casio WK-3000
Radio Shack MD-4072 - Casio WK-3200

Once again... Please feel free to post details of any other Concertmates you know of that are not in the list or are still, as yet, unidentified and I will add them

*EDIT: Any entry marked as 'Unconfirmed' means there is not enough evidence to determine the model name or model number of the Radio Shack equivalent. Such models are likely to be prototypes or released in limited numbers making them so rare that only a handful of people ever remember seeing them, let alone owning one!

I just picked up a Concertmate 1000 and it's awesome.  It isn't the Casio CT 700, however.

I wouldn't place much credibility by that list. The guy who originally posted it on this thread http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1393.0.html turned out to be full less than reliable in several respects. Theres no reason to think that list is any different.
