Isn't there a tiny little roland one (midi controlled, no keyboard)? I've seen it on ebay. It's either recent, or maybe still being made. Quite expensive.

I'm sure there are also some tiny kids keyboards

i'd like to see more of these "budget synths". i doubt if moog will ever release an under $100 mini synth (not talking about virtual synths, or iphone apps, but a REAL analog synth!)

i'd like to see these gakken kits hit the states without the huge shipping.

when you say "protoboard", are you talking about the stripped board, matching board, or the one with copper rings around the perferations? where is the best place to buy them online (for the money?)

Stripboard, really.  I would probably just look on eBay for people selling components.

Of course, not that I wish to condone piracy or anything, but if you bought a kit with a bare board you could photocopy the tracks onto acetate, and then make more boards...

i learned it is also called "veroboard". instead of copper clad rings around the holes, it is strips. this looks like what i need no build a lot of layouts on the web!

There's a tiny Yamaha MIDI box - yamaha mu5 - which also has a mini-keyboard sequencer thing in it

I've seen them (unbent) go cheap on ebay, but sometimes they go for a decent price.

i bent an mu5 (surface mount job) its a weird midi digital thing, dont think its what Jamie means, he's more talking about the wee analogue jobs like the gakken, stylophone and monotron.  Quite a limited market i would say, but if moog can have a circuit bending competition, i wouldn't think they would be adverse to releasing their own version of the monotron, sure they could make a much more stylish job of it, prob cost £300 quid though.......

you know, one of these days i plan to take a tour of moog industries (if they will let me, not a creepy tour! lol!)...i live not far at all from the moog plant! i tried a few times to email michelle, but i am sure she is one busy lady.

Mr moog did a talk in Edinburgh just before he passed, amazing dude and very humble considering.
