trigger outs on a tr505 - should i use diodes?

hey, i've built a breakout box for my 505, i want to have a trigger patchbay...

should i use diodes to stop any unwanted signals going back into the 505?
or should i have them in the patchbay itself? or in the trigger ins of the intended synths ~(synsonic drums, hing hon, mini space rocker)~ or all of the above? do i even need diodes?

better safe than sorry

whats a trigger patchbay and what would the diodes be doing? What 'unwanted signals' would be going into the 505?

you should be able to trigger a synsonics directly from the trigger signals on the 505 board, but its a bit hit or miss on other kit as the 505 triggers are a bit weak

patchbay probably wasnt the best choice of words, sorry...

im going for 2 outs for each trigger, im thinking i should use diodes to stop any current coming back into the 505...

kik trigger out --diode----- trigger1 --diode---- trigger 2


do you think i wont be able to trigger more than one machine from a single trigger out on the 505?

No, a diode only conducts one way, so although it would stop the external device pulling the 505's trigger pin high it won't stop the external device holding it low.

What you want here is some sort of buffer.

hi, have been thinking about something similar:

what is the required voltage of a gate pulse/trig? +5v?

doesn't all logic operate at 5v? (er, have not really got much of a
clue, indulge a synthedit-head)

if you have a comparator responding to any input above 0v,
sending 5v to a trigger device, can it deliver the ampltude needed
for a gate? :p
anyway, if the input sound has a decay, the comparator stays high..
