After much promising we finally have surface mount LTC1799 precision oscillator IC's on DIP-6 adapters available from the circuitbenders shop!

http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/forsale/LTC/LTC.html

I'm assuming that if you're even on this forum then you pretty much know what they are for but for people who haven't come across the LTC before; essentially with an LTC and a handful of other components you can quickly and simply put together an oscillator that can serve as a timing clock to add pitch/speed controls to any number of toys, synthesisers, samplers and other noise producing machines.

We have a simple LTC1799 oscillator construction guide here http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/forsale/LTC/LTCguide1.html

Doing a search on this forum or google for LTC1799 should give you an idea of what you can do with these things.

Nice one Paul. I've just read the tutorial on how to construct and fit these and I will be ordering one shortly.
I've recently been given a Casio CTK-530 and I am going to try it out on that.

Nice one! I was going to buy a couple of these from Getlofi but they wanted $14 to ship two boards the size of a large postage stamp to the UK!

No thanks..................

I've had to put the price up by 10p each on the LTC1799's due to our supplier raising their prices. I'd imagine somewhere down the line you can blame that on the recent Japanese earthquake.

I've also had to raise the shipping price of every non UK order to £2 for any quantity. UK shipping is still £1.
This is mainly down to the fact that some LTC's in a padded envelope sent to Europe no longer seem to count as airmail letters, and are now classed as airmail small packets, effectively doubling the shipping cost. Thanks a lot Royal Mail!  >:(
