can anyone direct me as to where i can buy fuzz box kits
or give me a list of what i need

You can build an exact copy of a 60's Fuzz Face that would cost you something like £500 to buy off ebay, for less than £10. Theres a few fuzz circuits here http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/ which are easy to build on stripboard.

I just bought a couple of Big Muff clone PCB's from http://www.guitarpcb.com/ but they have a load of other stuff as well.

If you want horrific noise it might be more interesting to get something like a cheap phaser pedal and circuitbend it to buggery.

if you like to have a kit with all parts and schematic laid out for you then these two usa based companies are pretty good (they both post world wide but you do pay import duty)
