Thanks.

I got most of mine from Charity shops too, usually for 75p to a £1.

Just bought a Casio MT-220 from a charity shop, and paid £12 which is loads, and found out it's really difficult to bend. I'm a beginner too, so maybe when I get into it more I will be able to bend the MT-220 but at the moment it seems a bit daunting.

Other than the MT240 a lot of Casio MT's can be a bit tricky, although you might find some useful information on other MT's that might be applicable over on the bible for these kind of things, the Tablehooters website:

the mt140 or mt 240 are good fun to bend, some quite whacky stuff really random.  There is 2 big meaty chips covered in bends, well worth a look.  I'm sure i tried a mt220 is that the one with the drum pads? i seem to remember it was a right pain to work on with nothing much going on in it.

Thanks for the link, will check it out.

Yes, it's the one with four drum pads and also four mini jack sockets for external pads to be connected.

BTW, I have an MT-220 too. I bought it a while ago, but havent opened it up yet.  I'd be interested in hearing how you get on with yours.

yes, it's a cool track, Steve Noxx has some more stuff in the pipeline too.

Haven't got around to my mt-220, but I'm building up to doing it :)

Hi Joss - newbie here. Had a look at your blog and the bendinator 4 where you're using the LFO you made. Can you please explain how you are using the LFO. Are you basically using it as an osciillating variable resistor via the LED/opto coupling you made then using that to change the pitch of the toy? It's cool, I like what you're doing.

Hi smojo, thanks for looking at my blog.

The bendinator 4 doesn't have any LFO feature, maybe you're thinking of the 2.1 or 3, but yes basically it's a 555 timer circuit that flashes the LED at different rates, the LED is coupled to a LDR inside a blob of modelling clay so no light can get in. the LDR is then connected straight to a jack socket, so then with a patch lead can be plugged into another socket on whatever keyboard, the socket on the keyboard can be wired to any part of circuit where change in resistance has an effect on the sound. I found two on the Bendinator 2.1, the best one was pitch.
