substitute for 100 kOhm log pot?

i am going to be using a 100 kOhm log pot for a gain control, but unfortunately rapid is all out right now and ive already built my shopping list on there.
i dont want to have to redo my shopping list on another site and the stock will not be in for a couple of months.
is there a reasonable substitute?
maybe a linear pot?
and how much difference to the volume would using a different log pot make? like, say, 22k or 47k?

you could use one of these. They're surprisingly good for plastic pots.

If you used a linear pot about 80% of its effect would be in about 20% of its rotation.

the problem with that pot is the depth of the shaft. but while typing that i thought to myself, i could cut it down.
