Vtech Taking Einstein

Decided to pick one of these up today despite the known lack of bending capabilities. Took it apart and soon found some glitchy garbled streams. It's a crystal clock so not easy to pitch bend without one of those LTC1799 Precision Oscillators.
Anyone else had any success with one of these?
