Iv'e got hold of this little Buddhist chant machine that I thought I may be able to do something with.  It's very basic and looking at the circuit board I'm not sure I can do much if anything at all. As you can see from the photo attached there is little circuitry aside from the black blob.   To the left of the blob there are 6 square pads marked R1, R2, R3. (see photo).  I presumed these are a type of SMD resistor but I'm unable to read anything using a multimeter. Can anyone enlighten me please?  I thought at least I could find a pitch resistor.

They are pads where resistors would go.  No idea what the values would need to be, or what they would do.  Maybe zero-ohm resistors to put it into different modes?
