Peavey PC1600 LCD problem
« on: February 23, 2014, 12:39:00 AM »

Hello Circuitbenders Uk

I’m sitting with a Peavey PC1600, which has some LCD issue and I’m actually not sure how I should manage to fix this problem.
•   There is not much help to get by Peavey as company.

The former owner sold the unit as “defect”. He tried to replace the old LCD with a new LCD and ran into a problem. The LCD is flashing but only showing some “Black” squares on the top part of the LCD.
I have tried taken some pictures:

1.   The unit

2.   The problem shown

3.   Inside (LCD board is left top)

4.   Inside (LCD board – close up)

5.   Inside (LCD board – closer up)

6.   LCD backside

7.   LCD front side

Any tips? Tricks? Hints?

I would greatly appreciate any kind of help! ;)

not sure if this will help or not...

i have a kenton control freak which was doing the same thing
it turned out for mine that the power supply brick was faulty...

i would try another power supply if you've not already and see if that makes any difference

mine also had bulging caps at the power input socket which i replaced, although that didnt make any difference to the lcd

i hadn't noticed this thread when it was posted, or i would have pointed out that the backup battery is missing from your board.

My PC1600 wouldn't start up properly with a dead backup battery, but i don't recall any blocks on the screen.
