how about e-mu Orbit v1?
« on: November 01, 2016, 07:44:45 AM »

pfff. still have this thing. very quickly realised that most of
the waveforms are almost completely useless and very generic.
i'd use now maybe the first 20 or so, and the drum sounds.

looking inside it, the wave rom is on a separate board, so each
in the series just has a different ROM.(carnaval, planet phatt)

but it's a very good module to navigate, 3 stereo outs, good bass,
and the filters are useful, for a digital module - if a little obvious
after a while.

i've just programmed a Novation Remote template set for it, which
is here:
https://app.box.com/s/wgx7yrfzqzd0noixvk5evok1w64ylbdj
(dl'd by two Lucky People so far.. i *think*it helps a bit...)*
which can be adapted easily for the other two models, and
makes possible some weirdness using the BeatsMode patterns,
as it allows editing of the patch used which is usally inaccessible
once you run the pattern, so you can edit not just the part1 on
midich1 it's intended for, but part 16 also.(what a shame the esi
samplers don't do sysex...) - so you come up with some interesting
little  possibilities there that can be sampled etc. that  you'd never
bother to try otherwise. - this is where you can do good stuff with
the splits and links -

thinking more about some rewriting of ROM rather than repatching
of PCM. of it's 8mb there's quite a lot that is completely superfluous.
yeh, i know just get rid of, and get a later model, they are dirt cheap
these days. but i've painted the gold mattblack so it ain't worth much.

any thoughts?
