Where to use caps (generally)?

I can't for the life of me find a use for all of the caps I have in bends. Pitch dials, toggles switches, resistors, push buttons and LEDs are what seem to make up most of my bends - I try to use caps in between those aforementioned things and the circuit, but they never give any percievable signal.  So is there a general good spot to use them?
