found electronics looper
« on: October 29, 2011, 12:23:01 AM »

Anyone know where I can get something similar to this?  http://found-electronics.net/projects/looper/

(the video clip gets more interesting at the end)

I get no reply from these guys and it seems not much has happened there for a while, so I figured I'll have to get something else, but what will let me do these things in realtime with some ease? Looking for preferably some tactile hardware or MIDI controllable software.

No? I'm starting to think these kind of toys are either a lot more common than I think or so rare that nobody knows about them. Could anyone give me a clue about whether this looper thing is just some random, free software inside a home made MIDI controller or if it's new and nothing like it on the market yet so wait and see?

Using custom software developed in MAX/MSP paired with a bespoke MIDI controller, we have created a unique audio looping system.

Looks to me like it's just some custom software.

erm... doesn't it say exactly what it is on that page?

Surely that blue thing is a home made midi controller thats controlling a MAX/MSP setup running on a computer? http://cycling74.com/

Heh.. Thanks for responding. Yeah I read it was custom built software. Didn't know about MAX/MSP. Looks quite complex. Was hoping to find something I could use as an instrument without having to spend years trying to learn how to make my own software. (I'm not very technically declined to put it mildly) Something MIDI controllable that will do only what that looper is doing. That would be fun

Yeah, MAX/MSP is pretty daunting stuff. I haven't dabbled with it yet, but I hear it's fairly confusing.
