Casio RZ-1 service manual here!
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:46:59 AM »

Everyone bow down and worship at its 8-bit feet - I have the elusive RZ-1 service manual!! ;D

I bought it as paper copy but i've scanned it to pdf and I'm giving it to you guys for free  :)

BUT...... in return, you have to download at least ONE SONG from my band's website (free download)  ::)

http://www.warningwillrobinson.com.au/index_files/LeisurethroughTechnology.htm

You can download the RZ-1 service manual from my band's website:

http://www.warningwillrobinson.com.au/index_files/InstrumentManuals.htm

If you click on the "View all manuals here" heading up the top of the page it will take you to the whole goldmine of my manuals, you can find it there. Take note that there is also 11 separate schematic pages that are a part of it but separate to it - in jpg format, so they also go with the main manual, make sure you get them, too.

I've also put it up on the Yahoo Casio Collectors group, but you'll have to join the group to access the files section.

Enjoy!

Cheers, Graham

You're most welcome! ;)

We should do some dissecting of it and post some findings about it.

First off: on p22 of the main manual:

There is a LPF filter on the sampling input as an anti-aliasing filter. This can be bypassed, as has been done on the Casio SK5 and 8 to improve sampling quality somewhat (but with aliasing noise introduced - depending on what you sample, may not be a problem, or even desirable). A simple bypass switch setup should allow a choice of on or off at will.
There shoud similarly be some sort of filter on the audio output stages of both the sampling section and the ROM sound section - these could similarly be bypassed as per SK5/8 to give brighter sound - the sampling section outputs already have a simple tone control - these could be modified to give better frequency response.
